A mild summer on the coast with picturesque villages in
Croatia and historic towns is an ideal background for a wonderful sailing area. Especially families
appreciate Croatia. The preliminary island chains with more than 700 islands provide a natural shelter for
almost the whole main coast. There are quite a few nice bays and anchorages, in Croatia.
A well organized grid of marinas and other ports is present. The day legs are short. This way Croatia has something
to offer for everyone. Relax in quiet and romantic bays, totally remote, or spend the day in a harbor in one of
the dalmatic coastal towns.
A diversified country with hidden bays, beaches, rocks and sea routes. You can charter yachts at Dubrovnik
and explore the southern part of Croatia. This holiday destinaton is rated light wind,
and is dominated by a light Maestrale from northwest. But beware of the Bora. This sudden gust of wind in gale strength
has devoured many a sail.
Fortunately the weather forecasts are very reliable and channels 69 or 73 provide info in English, Italian
or German. Since in some bays however - mostly the Cornates - reception is not very good, we recommend to
sign a contract with a forecast service that offers information via sms.
