Directly adjacent to Athens in
Greece and its' port town Piräus lies the Saronic Gulf, with
its' best known islands Poros, Hydra and Aegina. Ideal for the first lay after the
boat transfer. Agreed, the Saronic Golf has a fair amount of traffic and the ports are a
little more crowded than in the Aegean, but the estuary is very remote and the distances
between each of the ports are rather small. And there are still quite a number of places
that are waiting to be discovered - on the east coast of the Peloponnes (Greece)
for example. After circling Cape Sounion, the southeastern cape of the Greek main,
you will find a different wind blowing in your face. Now we are in the dominion of the
Meltemi, the famous summer wind that puts its' stamp onto the Aegean in Greece mainly from
July to September. With its' countless islands, the Kyklades lie dispersed in the deep
blue sea and open into a sailing area de luxe. Paros, Ios, Serifos, Mykonos or Santorin
are only some of the names you will remember, when you think of Greece. In the
northern part of the Aegean you will find the Sporades.
